About

I’m Phil Copestake and I live in Swindon, which was where I was born and grew up, and which became large too late to inspire the naming of a sister colony in the States. I began Wannabe Yank in January 2012 after a year of columnar blogging on the otherwise excellent arbitrary constant, in an attempt to focus down on a single topic: the US presidential election of that year.

Election year was lots of fun. More recently I’ve struggled to find the time or enthusiasm to blog about US politics, and have found the title of this blog and the enclosed identity it implies a bit of a barrier to blogging at all. So I’ve transferred my attention back to my old/now new once more His High Horse Again blog. But chances are when 2016 hoves into view I’ll not be able to resist the urge to return here to track Chris Christie whumping Hillary Clinton. See you then!
